The bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh means A.P. Olympic Association and also Visakhapatnam District Olympic Association, the apex body which has 51 affiliated State associations to govern various sports disciplines, will have to be split into two catering to Andhra and Telangana regions. Interestingly, there are already separate Telangana associations for quite a long time in disciplines such as ball badminton, kho kho, kabaddi, carrom and even hockey.The most popular sport of all - cricket - too has two separate associations - Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) and Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) catering to the needs of their respective regions. "Once the bifurcation is complete, it is inevitable that APOA splits into two and all the other State associations follow suit," feels K. Jagdishwar Yadav, APOA secretary and also secretary-general of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India.

Our President T. Harsha Vardhana Rao and our General Secretary Dr. R V Ramanamurty along with large number of sportspersons, school and college students and officials have participated in the Olympic Day run organised by The Olympic Association Visakhapatnam on the beach road on 23-06-2016.Collector N. Yuvaraj, who flagged of the run, said the run was being held on June 23 every year to instil interest about sports and sportsman spirit among the young people.
Boys and girls on skates formed part of the run. Some youths performing "Karrasamu" attracted attention of all. Chairman of Sports Authority of AP P.R. Mohan wanted the Indian sportspersons to win medals in the Olympics being held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from August 5 to 21.
Commissioner of GVMC Pravin Kumar, MLA P.V.G.R. Naidu, who is also president of AP Volleyball Association, president of The Olympic Association Visakhapatnam T.S.R. Prasad,former Olympian M.V. Manikyalu, veteran athlete B. Syama Sundara Rao and others participated.
